Blinds Measuring Tips

General Tips

  • Use a metal tape measure (these are more accurate than cloth tapes)
  • Measure width first then drop
  • Always measure exact sizes
  • Do not make any deductions, we will do this for you if necessary
  • Double check your measurements

Inside or Recessed Mount

Description of this measuring tip:
Window treatment will fit inside the window frame.
Beware: Window handles and winders may hinder blind operation
  • Step 1 - Width
    • Measure the EXACT width of the window (inside)
    • Measure in 3 places and write down smallest width
  • Step 2 - Height
    • Measure EXACT height of the window (inside)
    • Measure in 3 places and write down smallest height

Outside or Wall Mount

Description of this measuring tip:
Window treatment will fit outside usually on the window frame
  • Step 1 - Width
    • Measure the exact width of the window frame
  • Step 2 - Height
    • Measure the exact height from the top of the window frame to the sill (Height A) or the bottom of the window frame (Height B)
From these steps we will make the necessary allowances to your sizes (once a product is selected). If you are doing your own installation (optional) we will take you through this as well.
